The Rogue Stitch

Words of wisdom, wit, and whatever else you need.

From happier times for a Philly fan:

Alright, so I don't generally talk football during the off-season. (insert typical male joke here, and/or comment about red meat and Bud diesel cans.) I may send an email to an old friend in NY after the draft, but that's about it.

However, today will be an exception. Two things are worth mentioning.

First, the NFL announced the '06-'07 schedule today, which inevitably meant that the date has been set for T.O.'s return to Philly. October 8th.

Now say what you will about the most self-absorbed man in sports, but at least he has the skills to back up his mouth. (unlike Fred-Ex, aka ex-Iggle Freddie Mitchell.) And I am scared that he will put up one hellava game come October.

Second, in legal news, a court found fearless leader Donovan McNabb guilty of parking his truck in a handicapped spot--even though he had a doctor's note.

The court fined McNabb $256, tacking on $33 for court fees.

How much is this worth to Donovan? Let's break it down:

McNabb's 12yr contract is worth $115 million. But he also got a $13.5 million signing bonus, and a $7 million option bonus in '04........ $135.5 total.

Now there are 16 games in a season (not counting pre-season, the bye week, and playoff games).

That means McNabb is making $700,000 per game.

There are 60 minutes in a game, meaning he makes $194.44 each second.

So basically, the fine amounts to a second and a half on Donovan's game time salary.

As Mos Def would say, it's mathematics.
